Nancy Hair’s presentation called Talking Cello offered the children an intimate exploration of the cello and the range of sounds that can be produced on the cello. She led an exploration of the cello’s construction, and demonstrated how music and words connect by telling a story using the cello’s special sound effects. Children participated by helping to add elements to the story and through movement. As closure, each child had an opportunity to feel vibrations as Nancy plucked the cello.
