Board Meeting and Parent Discussion (zoom)

Board Meeting 7:30 – 9 pm (zoom) with discussion at 8:15: Initial Adjustment to School and Ways to Look at Children’s Work for Details on Development and Experiences at School
In anticipation of first family conferences with teachers, we’ll talk about the initial adjustment period to school and how teachers begin to think about each child’s development, strengths and challenges. Then we’ll talk about how family members can look for clues in the children’s work about development, including:

• Ways to look at the work children bring home as a source of information about school and learning
• Ways to use room displays and activities as an indicator of your child’s experiences
• Effective communication with your child’s teachers, both informally and at conferences
• Ways to use information about the whole class to guide conversations with your child about school
• Indicators of growth and development that can help you plan future programs for your child
